collector's items are the best! not only can you dye them as noted, but you can put any mod you find on them to suit your tastes. for staffs at least.
anyway, the richest players in the game are probably those who use collectors weapons. i've never bought a weapon or mod in my gw life lol. i only sell them. monk: gordac's holy rod (10/10) + 20/20 collector's / +15/-1/+30 collector's necro: collector's 20/20 death staff w/ +1 death (20%) & +5 ac ele: 20 wand + 20/20 focus / +1 rago focus & 20/20 staff +47 hp all dyed to match my latest outfit of course! |

I like the Drago vampiric bow for a ranger who plans on a vampiric and wants to use stances. It's hard to find a 15% stance flatbow, and the 5:1 vamp mod is perfect for an aggressive playstyle. Mostly though I agree, the greens are ok, but a collector is often as good, and there are golds that are better.

I still use a crimson carapace collector shield for my warrior, monk collector items (until I was lucky enough to get Brohn drops) and mesmer collector items (domination and fire ones).
I've yet to see very many gold/green items which are worth taking the place of the collector items I use. Great example: Crimson Carapace is identical to Grognar's defender (-2 in stance one). Only difference? 20-40k for Grognar's version, which can't even be dyed.... With the notable exception of my warrior sword(s) and the Brohn stuff, everything else has been collector, because most other items don't really compare. |

That would actually be helpful for remembering which bow types the specific Ascalon bows are.
